The Thunder Bay Zero Waste Action Team

The ZERO WASTE ACTION TEAM (ZWATeam) is comprised of members of the commercial, industrial and institutional sector, advisors, community organizations and citizens working together since 1992 to eliminate waste, manage resources and promote local jobs and economic self-sufficiency.  Ontarians produce almost a tonne of waste each a year; this is an unacceptable waste of precious land and resources. 20,000 more tonnes of solid wase were buried in landfill in Thunder Bay in 2008 than in 1997 - what a waste or land and resources! The goal of "Zero Waste" is to eliminate 100% of the waste presently being generated using Nature as a model.  The ZWATeam has adopted 5Rs - Rethink, Refuse, Reduce Reuse and then Recycle.
